Bureau Report: High tension wires are always a danger bell. Especially when there is a journey from the neighborhood. The same thing happened in Tripura’s Unakoti, when the chariot of Jagannath Yatra was leaving, it got hit by a high tension wire. Due to which 7 people have died, 18 have suffered severe burns and their condition is said to be serious.

The accident occurred during the reverse chariot journey

According to the police, the accident took place at 4:30 pm in the Kumarghat area during the reverse chariot procession being conducted by the ISKCON temple. The devotees were pulling the chariot made of iron, meanwhile the chariot came in contact with the 133 KV overhead cable. The police have started investigating the incident, the team is trying to find out how the chariot came in contact with the electric wires.

According to tradition, a reverse Rath Yatra is taken out a week after the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Tripura. In this, God’s chariot is pulled upside down. Along with Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and sister Subhadra also ride in the chariot.
