Haryana toll plaza IED seizure case: NIA files charge sheet against 3 associates of Harvinder Rinda

New Delhi : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary charge sheet against three associates of banned Babbar Khalsa International terrorist Harvinder Rinda in connection with the seizure of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices). The investigating agency said that in the month of May last year, an arrest was made along with arms and ammunition at Bastar toll plaza in Haryana. The people named in the charge sheet have been identified as Akash alias Akashdeep, Sukhbir Singh alias Jashan and Jarmalpreet Singh.

The NIA said in a statement on Tuesday that the accused are said to be close associates of designated terrorist Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, who has joined hands with banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). The NIA said three IEDs, a pistol with two magazines, 31 rounds of ammunition and Rs 1.30 lakh were recovered from the possession of Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, Amandeep Singh alias Deepa, Parminder Singh alias Pindar and Bhupinder Singh. On the instructions of Harvinder Rinda, the terrorists were going to Adilabad in Telangana to deliver the consignment of hardware and on May 5, they were stopped by the police at Madhuban’s Bastar toll plaza.

Were traveling in Innova car

The central probe agency said the accused persons were traveling in an Innova car, which was modified to keep these IEDs, pistols and ammunition in specially designed cavities. The NIA took over the Haryana Police case on 24 May 2022 and filed the first charge sheet on 31 October 2022 against six accused including Harvinder Rinda. Initially the case was registered at Madhuban police station in Haryana.

Case registered against the accused under various sections

The NIA, in its supplementary charge sheet filed before a special court in Panchkula on Monday, charged accused persons Akash, Sukhbir alias Jashan and Jarmalpreet under sections 120 (b), sections 13, 18, 20 and section 13, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) of the Indian Penal Code. ) has been charged under section 39 of the Act, sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act and sections 4,5 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act.

The NIA said that investigation of the case reveals that Akash alias Akashdeep, Sukhbir alias Jashan and Jarmalpreet Singh were in touch with terrorist Harvinder Rinda and are close associates of those arrested at Bastar toll plaza. He also took back the consignment of arms, ammunition and explosives sent by Rinda. Rinda had sent this consignment of ammunition through drones from across the border for terrorist attacks in India.
