Haryana Flood: Haryana released more than one lakh cusecs of water in Yamuna river on Sunday. Due to this there is danger of flood in Delhi. The state government has issued an alert regarding the flood. Delhi is already waterlogged due to record rainfall on Saturday and Sunday. The situation is likely to worsen due to the breach in Yamuna river.

Haryana released 1,05,453 cusecs of water from Hathnikund barrage at 4 pm on Sunday, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department of the Delhi government said. Due to this, a flood warning has been issued for the first time. 352 cusecs of water is normally released from Hathnikund Barrage. Over one lakh cusecs of water released from the barrage takes two to three days to reach Delhi.

Teams were deployed

Delhi government officials have been directed to remain vigilant and take necessary action in sensitive areas in view of the possibility of flooding. According to the flood control department, quick response teams have been deployed. People living near the banks of Yamuna river have been alerted. Low-lying areas near rivers in Delhi are considered flood-prone. About 37,000 people live here.

16 control rooms built by Delhi government

The Delhi government has taken steps to monitor the water level of the Yamuna river and monitor flood-prone areas. The state government has prepared 16 control rooms including the central control room. A day ago, the Central Water Commission said that the water level of the Yamuna river is increasing in Delhi.

It is likely to cross the danger mark of 205.33 meters on Tuesday. According to the Central Water Commission’s flood control portal, the water level near the old railway bridge was 203.18 meters at 1 pm on Sunday. The danger mark here is 204.5 meters. The water level is likely to rise to 205.5 meters from 11 am to 1 pm on Tuesday.

It has been raining for two days in North West India

Let us tell you that it has been raining continuously for the last two days in North West India. Many areas of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan have received heavy to very heavy rains. Due to this the rivers have overflowed. The situation is more serious in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
