The US State Department has announced an increase in processing fees for nonimmigrant visas (NIVs), such as business or tourism (B1/B2 and BCC) and other non-petition based NIVs such as student and exchange exchange visas. , will increase from $160 to $185.
The new prices will be effective from this date
The new US visa rates will be effective from 30 May 2023. Talking about the current exchange rate, Indian students have to pay Rs 15,140 to get a US visa. This will happen when the new rules come into effect.
Fees will increase for these too
Some petition-based nonimmigrant visas, which are for temporary workers, such as the H, L, O, P, Q and R categories will see a jump in visa prices. Their price, which was previously $190, has now been increased to $205.
When was the fee increased before?
The visa fee has been increased from $205 to $315 for treaty traders, treaty investors and treaty applicants in special occupation (E category). Apart from this, there has been no change in the remaining fees. Note that most of the non-petition based NIV fees were last updated in 2012, while some fees were updated in 2014.
