The Finance Minister has given relief to the mobile manufacturers.
The government will reduce the custom duty of some mobile parts.

New Delhi. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday announced customs duty relief on certain parts and imports of smartphones during the budget, which may reduce the cost of Apple’s iPhone in India. The Finance Minister said in his budget speech that custom duty will be cut on some parts like camera lens. Apart from this, he has extended the concessional duty on lithium-ion cells for batteries for one more year.
This means that Apple’s iPhones made in India can be cheaper in the coming financial year. Till now, the custom duty on camera lens and its inputs/parts used in the manufacture of camera modules of cellular mobile phones was 2.5 per cent.
Let us tell you that Apple is rapidly increasing the production of iPhone in India and if reports are to be believed, India may soon become the world’s largest Apple iPhone manufacturer by overtaking China. A few months ago, Apple also started manufacturing the flagship iPhone 14 model in India.
Production started in India in 2017
Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017 with the iPhone SE 2. Currently the tech giant manufactures iPhone SE, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14 in India.
Work on iPhone 15 continues
Meanwhile, Apple is working on its upcoming iPhone 15. This is a flagship phone, which will be launched in 2023. This phone will be equipped with Apple A14 bionic chipset. It can get support of 8GB of RAM, 6.1 inch display and dual camera setup. The company can provide dual camera setup in the phone. According to reports, face unlock facility can be available in the phone for security in the phone.
