According to senior officials of the agency, the team conducted a search under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002 to seize bank lockers in Ludhiana on September 4.

The raid took place on August 24

The ED had earlier raided 25 locations of Bharat Bhushan Ashu and his associates on August 24. Meanwhile, Rs 6.5 crore was seized and the bank’s lockers were frozen. Now the total amount of seizure and freeze in this case has increased to 8.6 crores.

The case of assets in excess of income

Let it be said that the investigation agency suspects that Ashu and his associates have made more property than the income by manipulating the department. The documents in this regard are being examined by the teams of the department. The department will soon issue a notice to the accused to account for the recovered gold.

What is the case of tender scam?

Ashu and his accomplices are accused of awarding tenders to contractors who approached Minister Ashu through Rakesh Kumar Singla, former deputy director of the CVC of the Food and Civil Supplies Department. In such a situation, Ashu is accused that due to his bias, the allotted contractors got unfair advantage, which caused loss to the government exchequer.
