Flights from Amritsar to Toronto and New York: About two lakh people from Punjab fly to Canada from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport every year. Along with this, they suffer a lot. Also, Punjabis living abroad had also demanded for a long time that direct flights from Canada and America should be connected to Amritsar.
This demand of people who are demanding direct flights is now starting to go down. Italian Airlines, Neos Air, is going to start flights to connect the holy city of Amritsar with Toronto and New York through its hub at Milan. According to the information, this facility is going to start from April 6.
Earlier, Qatar Airways and Air India expanded their operations from Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport, Amritsar. Luca Campnati, Sales Manager, Neos Air, said, “Amritsar’s connections with Britain and Canada have been evident for decades. Therefore, we are expanding our North American network with a new service between Milan Malpensa and Toronto starting April 6 from Amritsar.”
The airline will operate a weekly flight to both Toronto and New York from April 6. The airline will take 21 hours to complete the journey from Amritsar to Toronto as the flight will first stop at Milan Airport and reach Toronto’s Pearson Airport after a four-hour layover.
Neos Air started flights between Milan Malpensa and Amritsar in December 2022. Initially, the airline started operating charter services between Italy and Amritsar in September 2021 for the first time during the pandemic.
Fly Amritsar Initiative Global Convener Seem Singh Gumtala welcomed the launch of this one-stop seamless connectivity between Amritsar-Toronto via Milan which will also connect Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport with New York.
