The festival of Baisakhi is being celebrated with pomp in Sri Damdama Sahib located in Talwandi Sabo. Despite the strict vigilance and surveillance of the police, lakhs of Sangat are reaching Sri Damdama Sahib. Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh thanked the Sangat on reaching Sri Damdama Sahib.

Giving a message to the congregation, Giani Harpreet Singh said that the situation in Punjab is fine. There is no conflict in the state. Therefore, it is wrong to call Punjab a conflict state. Punjab is peaceful and we pray for peace and tranquility in the state. Sometimes mischievous elements throw stones first in calm waters. Later it is said that see the water is moving, it is turbulent.

Giani Harpreet Singh said that this festival is being celebrated in the Sikh tradition since the time of Sri Guru Amardas Ji. Sikh Bhai Taro ji had put his views before Sri Guru Amar Das ji that a common day should be celebrated on which day Sikhs all over the world would come together so that they could know each other.

The Gurus announced two days in which they asked the Sangat to reach Sri Amritsar Sahib on the day of Diwali at the land of Goindwal Sahib, the festival of Baisakhi. After this, in 1706, Khalsa Foundation Day was celebrated by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in Sri Damdama Sahib.

In Sri Damdama Sahib, the Jathedar first showed the weapons associated with the Gurus, in which the Sri Sahib of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the gun fired by him and Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji were also shown to the Sangat of Sri Sahib.
