The Assam Rifles have been withdrawn from Bishnupur district of violence-hit Manipur today. The Assam Rifles comes under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and is under the operational control of the Army.
The FIR has been registered at Phugkachao Ikhai police station in Bishnupur district. Accordingly, state police teams were stopped when they reached the Qutub Wali Masjid located in Kawakata Ward 8 on the side of Pholjung Road, Bishnupur. 9 jawans of Assam Rifles parked their Casper vehicle in the middle of the Kwakata Pholzang road to block the way of the police. He obstructed the work of the police.
On the same day, a video of an argument between Manipur Police and Assam Rifles jawans went viral. In the video, the commandos of the Manipur Police are accusing the jawans of the Assam Rifles of interfering in their work.
However, this is not the first time Manipur Police has registered an FIR against the Assam Rifles. Earlier, an FIR was also registered in Suganu.
The situation in Manipur remains tense. Firing, arson and demonstrations continued on Tuesday. Security forces launched a search operation in Kangpokpi and Imphal West areas that were hit by gunfire and tension. Meanwhile, 5 single bore rifles, 4 indigenous bomb launchers, 36 single bore rounds, 1 walkie talkie and charger and 8 mobile chargers were recovered.
Armed men opened fire and set fire to some houses in Thinungei, Fubala areas. The security forces immediately took action after receiving the information.
Tribal leaders of Manipur met with IB director, meeting with Amit Shah postponed
Representatives of Manipur’s tribal organization Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) met Intelligence Bureau (IB) director AK Mishra on Tuesday. Although these representatives were supposed to meet Home Minister Amit Shah, the meeting was postponed.
In fact, the Home Minister was present to discuss the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha. Due to which he could not meet the ITLF members at the appointed time. It has not been decided when the next meeting will be held.
The ITLF Forum will hold 5 demands
The ITLF Forum will place 5 major demands before Shah. These include separate administrative arrangements and permission to bury the dead of the Kuki-Jo community together in Churachandpur. Violence has continued continuously in the state since May 3. People from the Cookie-Jo community have also been killed in it. More than 160 people have died in Manipur so far.
