Chandigarh: Colonel Manpreet Singh of New Chandigarh, who was martyred in Anantnag on September 13, was cremated with official honors today in his native village Bharojia. Here he was given a farewell with full military honours. People from around 20 to 25 villages arrived for the martyr’s last darshan and to offer flowers of devotion. Villagers stood outside their houses with tricolor flags. All were chanting slogans of Bharat Mata Di Jai. Shaheed Manpreet Singh’s son paid his last farewell to his father wearing army uniform. Seeing him today, everyone’s eyes are sad. Punjab Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan also reached the village to pay tribute to Shaheed Manpreet Singh. The sisters bid farewell to their martyred brother by offering rakhi.
