He said that in 1997 it was only Badal who asked for reconciliation with Bharatiya Janata Party.
Harjinder Singh Dhami said that this great tragedy of Punjab is still reverberating in the hearts of the people, which started from Saka Nila Tara. Addressing Amit Shah, Dhami said that the Guru has blessed you and the captive Sikhs should be released from jails by solving this issue soon. Dhami said that he has already written several letters to the central government in this regard and today he will also give a letter to the home minister of the country. It is noteworthy that there are 9 Sikh political prisoners in Indian jails, who have not yet been released despite completing their sentences and the demand for their release has been repeatedly raised by the Sikh community. Jathedar said that if the Shiromani Akali Dal spoke about their rights, conspiracies were hatched against us by calling us terrorists. He said that there is a need to follow the thinking of Parkash Singh Badal that the states get complete independence and the states get full rights. He said that today every regional party of the country needs to be strengthened.

Amit Shah said that whenever he met late Parkash Badal, he got to learn something from Badal. He said that Badal always inspired us to walk on the path of truth. Shah said that though his parties were different, Badal always said and did what was right for everyone.
He said that the work of laying the foundation of new Punjab was done by Parkash Badal. Shah said that with the departure of Badal, one of the leaders of the community has gone. The Union Minister said that Badal had dedicated his entire life for Hindu-Sikh communal unity.
