During the hearing of the case in CAT, there was an argument between the two sides. Both sides were heard, after which the tribunal adjourned the hearing of the matter till November 6.

Earlier, during the Congress government, the case of former IPS officer Mohammad Mustafa and former IPS officer Suresh Arora had also reached the CAT. Meanwhile, the CAT ruled in favor of Muhammad Mustafa, but the High Court overturned the decision.

Bhavra had gone on leave for two months

For the last one and a half years, Punjab has no permanent DGP, nor has the name been sent to the UPSC by the Punjab government. Bhavra says that he is the senior most officer of the 1987 batch and currently Gaurav Yadav, an IPS officer of the 1992 batch, holds the charge of acting DGP.

VK Bhavra went on a 2 month leave after the incident last year. However, Bhavra had said in a letter to the home department that the reason for taking leave was personal.
