Ludhiana : As part of the ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Dilbar Khan (No. 1479/Sangrur) posted in Police Station City-2, Malerkotla for accepting a bribe of Rs.35,000.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the said policeman has been arrested on the complaint of Mohammad Yamin, a resident of Mohalla Milkh, Malerkotla. He said that the complainant approached the Economic Crimes Wing of the Vigilance Bureau Ludhiana Range and alleged that the said policeman had taken a bribe of Rs 45,000 from him in exchange for giving a statement to get a settlement in the case registered regarding the dispute of relatives and to cancel the case in the High Court. had demanded

The complainant further stated that the said ASI had already taken Rs 10,000 as the first installment of bribe. The spokesman said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the team of Economic Crimes Wing of Vigilance Range Ludhiana arrested the said policeman on the spot by accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.

A case has been registered against this ASI under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Police Station Vigilance Bureau Economic Offenses Branch Ludhiana Range and further investigation of the matter is going on.
