Farmers’ dharna will start in Chandigarh from today for 3 days. The demonstration will continue till November 28. Farmers are protesting accusing the central government of reneging on promises. Along with this, the Chandigarh Police has prepared to stop the farmers at the border itself. The police have deployed heavy police force on the roads coming from Mohali and Panchkula. No farmer organization will be allowed to enter the city.

Panchkula Police Commissioner has issued a warning regarding farmers’ agitation. In this, he cited the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and said that without permission the protestors cannot disrupt the movement of vehicles in or out of Panchkula and separate permission will have to be obtained to march towards Chandigarh.

Passing the order in the case of Neetu Bajaj v. State of Haryana, the court said that no person, organization or group of persons can obstruct any kind of traffic in any public place or road. In such a case, this demonstration is a violation of court orders.

Farmers coming from Mohali will be stopped at the border village of Fayda in Chandigarh. Barricading is being done here by the police. Chandigarh Police has also held several rounds of talks with Mohali Police for this. The route for common people has also been diverted from this border.

According to the information received, the Chandigarh administration has made three-level security arrangements to stop the farmers. In this, Chandigarh police personnel will be posted in the first layer. Rapid Action Force personnel of Chandigarh Police will be deployed in the second layer. Vajar vehicles and water cannons will also be deployed with them. Central Security Force personnel will be deployed in the third layer.
