Nokia Mobile Broadband Index (MBiT) Report 2023: A study has shown that the average data consumption per user in India will reach 19.5GB in a month in 2022. According to Nokia’s annual Mobile Broadband Index (MBiT) report, mobile data traffic in India has grown 3.2 times in the last five years. The report revealed that the share of 4G and 5G subscribers in the total mobile data traffic in the country is now almost 100 per cent.
The Nokia report also said that India’s investment in private wireless networks could reach up to $250 million by 2027. According to the report, the use of mobile data in the country has increased three times in the last five years.
Nokia’s annual Mobile Broadband Index (MBIT) report has forecast a significant uptick in venture investment and a major uptake of 5G in the second half of 2023.
According to the report, enterprise spending on private 5G networks in India will be driven by new users across diverse industry segments including manufacturing, utilities, transportation and healthcare.
India’s investment in private wireless networks is expected to reach around $250 million by 2027, the report said. The report highlights that mobile data usage in India has increased 3.2 times in the last five years.
Mobile data usage per month across India to grow from 4.5 exabytes in 2018 to 14.4 exabytes in 2022. Apart from this, the average data consumption per user has also increased rapidly. This figure has reached 19.5 GB per month in 2022.
Amit Marwah, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Nokia India said, “The demand and need for data in India is really huge. The demand for 5G in the market is very high and in 2022, seven crore 5G devices are expected to be sold in India.
