Bureau report: A new twist has emerged in the murder of a 19-year-old girl in Chimana village of Jagraon. Earlier it was being told that the mobile robber has committed the murder with the intention of robbing. But now after the police investigation another game is coming out. The deceased Gurmanjot Kaur was killed because of one-sided love. She was preparing for IELTS after 12th. Accused 23-year-old Gurkirat Singh was arrested by the police. In the interrogation, he revealed why he killed Gurmanjot Kaur.
The police received a tip-off that a young man had tried to steal Gurmanjot Kaur’s mobile phone by entering a landlord’s house in Chimna village on Thursday. On failure, he attacked Grumanjot Kaur on the head with a sharp weapon due to which she died. The blood-soaked body of Gurmanjot was found in the cattle yard. The accused also escaped by crossing the same wall through the fields.
At the time when the incident took place, the girl’s father Nirpal Singh along with his wife went to Jagrao to get medicine. Gurmanjot Kaur and her grandmother were in the house. Happy, who works in an electrical shop near the house, heard the girl’s scream and made noise and informed Gurmanjot’s father. After this, the team of SSP Rural Navneet Singh Bains reached the spot and started the investigation.
After investigation, the police arrested Gurkirat Singh of the village from Khanna bus stand. It came out in the interrogation that Gurkirat was in one-way love with Gurmanjot. He always followed her. He proposed to Gurmanjot several times but she refused every time. He was angry about this. On Thursday, Gurmanjot’s parents were not at home, taking advantage of the opportunity, he entered the house. He pretended to steal the mobile phone so that Gurmanjot’s grandmother felt that a robber had entered the house. After killing Gurmanjot, Gurpreet went straight to his house and then escaped with a bike. Jagraon police caught Gurkeerat from Khanna bus stand based on his mobile location.
