The Department of Agriculture gave a one-day training to the farmer friends to encourage the cultivation of narme

The farmers’ friends recruited by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to promote the cause of gentrification in the state were given a one-day training by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Speaking in the opening session of the training program on this occasion, the SDM of Abohar Mr. Akash Bansal IAS said that efforts are being made by the government for crop diversification.

He said that farmers should be motivated and technical information should be given to the farmers to encourage the practice of Kisan Mitra Narme. He said that the farmers should be motivated to manage the Narme fallows because the larvae of the pink borer hide in these fallows. He said that the government will provide full canal water, quality seeds, fertilizers and pesticides to the farmers for the relief.

Chief Agriculture Officer Mr. Sarwan Singh said that farmer friends have been placed in 137 villages of Narme caste in the district who will give all the detailed information about Narme caste to the farmers in the village. He said that constant contact should be maintained with the farmers and the information received from the department should be made available to the farmers quickly.
On this occasion, agronomists of Punjab Agricultural University Dr. Jagdish Arora, Dr. Manpreet Singh, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Amandeep Kaur gave all the technical information regarding the cultivation of Narme to the farmer friends.
On this occasion, Agriculture Block Officer Sundar Lal along with the staff of Agriculture Department were also present.
