Fatehgarh Sahib: Punjab Vigilance has arrested 3 employees including Planning Officer Manveer Singh posted in the office of District Town Planner Fatehgarh Sahib on the charge of taking bribe. The other two arrested accused have been identified as junior engineer Pikshu Saini and driver Tejinder Singh.

The vigilance officer said that the accused have been arrested on the complaint of Balram Kumavat, a resident of Amloh. The complainant has filed a complaint in this regard at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Patiala Range.

It was stated that the accused employees of Pudda said that their houses and shops were built illegally. Then they demanded a bribe of one and a half lakh rupees in exchange for not demolishing them. A deal was settled between the two for 40,000 rupees. The accused had already taken a bribe of 30 thousand rupees.

Driver caught red-handed while taking 10,000 rupees

The vigilance officer said that after the preliminary investigation of the complaint, the vigilance team arrested the driver Tejinder Singh red-handed after taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of government witnesses. Then later the said planning officer and JE were also arrested. A case has been registered against the accused at the Vigilance Bureau, Patiala Range under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. At present, the vigilance is engaged in the further investigation of the matter.
