Drug trafficking/victims should be reported on WhatsApp number: District Administration Mohali

District administration Mohali has appealed to the residents of the district to report drug trafficking/victims on WhatsApp number 80541-00112, which is being monitored by the senior police captain himself.

While presiding over the Narco Coordination Center Mechanism Committee meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Viraj Shyamkaran Tidke said that the Chief Minister The Punjab government led by Bhagwant Singh Maan is committed to take strict action against drug traffickers and ensure treatment of victims under Section 64-A.

He said that the purpose of the Narco Coordination Center mechanism is to create awareness on a wide scale by coordinating with various departments to prevent drugs and discuss and review the progress and strategy.

He said that the district police with the support of the district administration has started the above helpline to provide information about drug traffickers and victims. Victims will be helped in rehabilitation after proper drug addiction treatment. He said that so far two major awareness programs have been conducted, one at Mohali on December 14 and the other at Trivedi Camp in Derabassi tomorrow.

He said that 80 drug stores have been checked to keep an eye on addictive medical drugs. Similarly, 113 samples of medicines have been taken for quality maintenance as well as further tests.

Apart from this, 07 licenses have been suspended for violating the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Apart from this, 51 cases are being tried/filed in different courts. The ADC directed the state GST department to keep vigil on bulk billing of large quantities and supplies apart from large transactions of medicines.

Officials of the School Education Department, Youth Services and Nehru Yuva Kendra were asked to spread maximum awareness among the students so that teenagers who may fall victim to the dangers of drugs can be kept away.

The Rural Development and Panchayat Department has been asked to coordinate with the Forest Department to remove hidden places like bushes from villages that can become safe havens for drugs.

Urged the police officials to carry out early inspection of parcels delivered by Swiggy/Zomato from one place to another to check the possibility of carrying any suspicious substance.

In the meeting, SP (Traffic and Industries) HS Mann, SDM Derabassi Himanshu Gupta, SDM Mohali Chandrajoti Singh, Tehsildar Khar Jaswinder Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahesh Kumar, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Parvinder Pal Kaur, District Education Officer (Secondary) Dr. Ginny Duggal and representatives of other departments were present.
