Driver of government ambulance arrested for taking bribe

Government Ambulance Driver Arrested: Jaspal Singh alias Lucky, the driver of Government Ambulance of Civil Hospital, Gurdaspur has been arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau for accepting a bribe of Rs 4000. The accused has been nabbed on the complaint of private ambulance driver Rajesh Kumar.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Gurdaspur, had filed a complaint that the government ambulance driver Jaspal Singh used to demand a share of the fare charged by the private ambulance drivers for transporting patients to other cities.

He said that after the preliminary investigation of the complaint, the Gurdaspur unit of the Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and arrested the accused driver in the presence of government witnesses, taking a bribe of Rs 4000 from the complainant.

The spokesperson said that an FIR has been lodged against driver Jaspal Singh under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Amritsar Range. No. 25 dated 03-08-2023 has been recorded.
