The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered to quash the FIR filed against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the case of making objectionable comments on Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj and Sant Kabir Ji. The High Court has taken this decision due to lack of facts. Jalandhar rural police will file a report of registering a case in this case.

The case was registered in Patara police station of Jalandhar

Let us tell you that this case was registered on 17 March 2023 in Patara police station of Jalandhar. Section 295-A was added in this case for hurting religious sentiments. After this, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh filed a petition in the High Court and appealed to cancel the FIR registered against him regarding a satsang.

There is no concrete evidence in the case – High Court

It is alleged that during a satsang about 7 years ago, Ram Rahim had commented on Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj. When the video of this satsang reached the Ravidas Samaj of Jalandhar, Ravidas Tiger Force Punjab chief Jassi Talhan complained about the matter to the Jalandhar rural police. After investigation, the police have registered a case.

Reached the High Court after the case was registered

Ram Rahim approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court a few days after the case was registered. The High Court, after hearing all the parties, said that there is no clear evidence of any intention or deliberate action taken by the petitioner (Ram Rahim) while preaching in this case to hurt the religious sentiments of any person or community. After which the High Court has disposed of the petition rejecting the FIR and the proceedings related to it.
