International Year of Millets: Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhawan, famous scientist and natural health system expert Dr. Padma Shri. A dialogue program was organized with Khader Wali on the topic “Disease free, healthy lifestyle with millet diet”.

Millet, he said, is one of the oldest known foods for humans. Coarse or basic grains are beneficial not only for health but also for nature as these crops with small seeds are resilient to changes in climate and the production of this grain also requires less water.

During the discussion, ‘Milletman of India’ Padma Shri Dr. Khader Wali said that eating food prepared from coarse grains helps to get rid of diseases because this basic grain is rich in protein, fiber and other elements. He said that whole grains keep blood sugar and cholesterol balanced. He said that to live a healthy life we ​​have to go back to natural or original grains.

On this occasion Dr. Vali also appealed to the personalities present in the event to make the basic grains rich in protein, fiber and nutrients a part of their life. After the event, the host Kultar Singh Sandhawan served food prepared from coarse grains like Kodhra, Kangni, Ragi, Jowar, Bajre, Hari Kangni and Swank etc. Balbir Singh, Minister of Sports and Environment Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair along with MLAs and officials of various departments ate. Umendra Dutt from Agriculture Heritage Mission was also present on this occasion.
