Bureau Report: On the occasion of Independence Day, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Ki’. In Patiala, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a new portal www.khedanwatanpunjabdia.com through which the players participating in the ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Ki’ starting from 29th of this month will be able to register online on this portal.
In his address during the state-level event on the occasion of Independence Day, the Chief Minister said that the people had given a great response to the ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Ki’ organized by the state government last year. He said that it is a matter of great pride that more than three lakh players in 6 different age groups have participated in this sports event. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these players had participated in various competitions from block to state level in 30 sports categories.
The Chief Minister said that this year also these sports competitions will start from August 29 in which the participating players can apply online on this portal. He said that five new sports have been added this time, cycling, equestrian, rugby, wushu and volleyball shooting. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the government is making all possible efforts to create a sports environment in the state so that the energy of the youth can be channelized in a positive direction.
The Chief Minister said that ‘Kheda Watan Punjab’ is providing a suitable platform for the players to showcase their skills. This will also help the state government to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the players which will prove beneficial in preparing them for future national and international competitions. He further said that the Punjab government is leaving no stone unturned to make sports popular in the state because these sports can play an important role in the progress of the state and the prosperity of the people here.
