Bureau Report: After SGPC’s decision to open Gurbani channel, PTC channel has announced to end the broadcast service of LIVE telecast of Gurbani from Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar. MD and President of G NEXT MEDIA PVT LTD channel Ravinder Narain has shared this information by posting a video message on Twitter. He said, ‘Since 1998 till now, the Guru Sahibs had given us the service of broadcasting Gurbani from Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib. After a few days from today, this service is going to be completed. MD Ravindra Narayan said that we wanted this service to continue but due to the circumstances we take permission from the congregation while completing this service. And we pray that the transmission of Gurbani to the Sangat continues without any hindrance. No matter who it is. But the big question here is that even though the Sromani Committee has announced to open its channel, it may take 6 to 1 year for the license of the channel and to start it. Gurbani should be recited only through the YouTube channel. Or SGPC has another way.

SGPC has these 2 ways

If the broadcast of Ek Dum Gurbani on TV is stopped then the devotees may face embarrassment. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan, who strongly raised the sole right of Gurbani, is also troubled by this fear, that is why he wrote to the Governor to pass the Sikh Gurdwara Amendment Bill 2023 as soon as possible. Sentiments were quoted. But after the way the governor has raised questions in the session itself, there is little hope of passing the bill. In such a situation, SGPC has 2 alternatives. SGPC may give extension to PTC for few months. Which should be approved by PTC. But it can be disputed. Opposition parties may surround SGPC. On the other hand, it is also possible that after the broadcast of Gurbani on TV is stopped, SGPC will extend the contract with PTC without taking it upon itself, referring to the Sangat. Congress MP Ravneet Bittu and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann have expressed this concern. Maybe to avoid conflict with PTC, SGPC has entered into an agreement with another channel till the new channel starts. But this is unlikely. SGPC has also not made any statement regarding the TV telecast after July 23. At present, all eyes are now on July 24 to see how Gurbani will be broadcast on TV after SGPC’s contract with PTC ends on July 23. Happily for the devotees, SGPC will start broadcasting Gurbani on its new YOUTUBE channel on July 24 at Amrit.
