Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday formally started the procurement of paddy in the state from Chamkaur Sahib grain market. On this occasion, the Chief Minister ordered the Department of Food and Civil Supplies to ensure smooth procurement during the saffron marketing season which started from October 1. At the same time, CM Mann has also replied to Punjab Governor Purohit about the expenditure of 50 thousand crore rupees.
Talking to the farmers, the Chief Minister said- We are committed to buy each and every grain of the farmers’ crop and this is the first time in history that the lifting of the crop has started on the first day of the purchase of paddy. The chief minister said that the distribution of flood compensation has started and the state government will bear every penny of the loss. He said that the state government has enough money in the state disaster relief fund to compensate the damage caused due to floods.
Today, the purchase and arrangements of the paddy crop were reviewed at the Dana Mandi of Sri Chamkaur Sahib.

This year the target is 182.10 metric tons – cm
The Chief Minister said that the state government has set a target of 182.10 lakh metric tonnes during the saffron season. He said that 173 lakh metric tons of this will be purchased by government agencies. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has 4.86 lakh bales of jute and the rest will be managed by the mill owners.

The Chief Minister said that biometric authentication technology has been introduced to protect the interests of farmers who bring food grains to the markets. He said that online gate passes will be issued to vehicles to bring transparency in grain lifting.
