Bureau Report: The Punjab government has declared a holiday on September 19. A holiday has been announced on the occasion of Mahaparva Samvatsari of Jain Samaj. The government issued an order and said that government offices, government and non-government educational centers will remain closed on September 19. It has been included in the list of reserved leave available to every employee.
Punjab has become the first state in the country to observe a public holiday on the anniversary of this festival which commemorates the sadhana of Jainism. Earlier there was a holiday related to Jainism which was celebrated on the Kalyanak Jayanti of the 24th Tirthakara Lord Mahavira. But now there will be 2 holidays in Punjab.
