What is Chandrayaan-3?
ISRO wants to study the moon under Chandrayaan Mission. India successfully launched Chandrayaan-1 for the first time in 2008. India then failed to launch Chandrayaan-2 in 2019. Now India is trying to create history by launching Chandrayaan-3. It will be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota. Chandrayaan-3 consists of three parts – Propulsion Module, Lander Module and Rover. These are called modules in technical parlance.
Landing will start from 7 km, sensors will be active at 2 km
These sensors will help the lander in the landing height, landing location, speed, protect the lander from rocks. Chandrayaan-3 will begin its descent to the lunar surface from an altitude of 7 km. The sensors will be activated as soon as they reach an altitude of 2 km. According to these, the lander will determine its direction, speed and landing site.
This time ISRO scientists do not want to make any mistake regarding the landing. Because Chandrayaan-2 had a hard landing due to problems in sensors and boosters. Chandrayaan-2 was about 350 meters above the surface while spinning rapidly and fell to the ground. ISRO scientists want the lander and rover to maintain contact with the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter.
