Chandigarh Health Department issued an advisory to avoid heat

The UT administration has issued a health advisory for people to stay safe during the current heat conditions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature will increase. Heat waves and severe heat waves are likely to increase.

Let it be known that the Indian Meteorological Department said that on April 17, severe heat has been predicted in various areas of Punjab and Haryana and in western Uttar Pradesh on April 18. East Uttar Pradesh may also be affected by extreme heat on April 18-19.

From April 18 to 20, light rain is likely to occur in different areas of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan. There is a possibility of heavy rain in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on April 18. On the other hand, heavy rain is likely to occur in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on April 18-19. According to the Meteorological Department, hailstorm may occur at some places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab in the next two to three days.

The Health Department of UT-Chandigarh has issued the following advisory for awareness among the general public to reduce the morbidity and mortality due to extreme weather and climate.

Avoid direct exposure to heat:

Avoid direct exposure to the sun

Stay indoors in well-ventilated and cool places.

Electric fans can provide comfort, but when temperatures are high, take a cold shower or bath, or move to a cooler or air-conditioned space.

Preferably wear cotton clothes that are lightweight, light-colored and loose-fitting.

Cover your head with an umbrella/cloth/hat while going out in the sun
