If you follow Bollywood stars, you must have seen famous and fit actresses like Sara Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kangana Ranaut visiting Pilates studios in Mumbai. That’s because they all go to popular Pilates trainer Namrata Purohit. We can get an idea of their hard work by looking at the fitness of all the famous personalities. So today let’s take a look at Purohit’s life before he became a celebrity client.

In a Healthshots She Slays interview, she told that she had to face many ups and downs in the beginning of her beautiful journey.

Was badly injured at the age of 15

“I was badly injured after falling from a horse. I was only 15 years old at that time and I injured my knee,” she said, adding that after the injury, the doctor told her that she would not be able to dance and play squash again. These were the things she was very passionate about.

“It was a very scary situation,” says Purohit. I tried everything throughout the year. I tried various fitness forms like rehab and physiotherapy.

Then Pilates entered the life of a priest.

One day, his father got the hosting duty of a Pilates course in Mumbai. “At that point I requested him to stay the course. It was very exciting for me. For the first time in a whole year, I had forgotten my pain during these four days. That’s when I saw the magic of Pilates.”

He further added that if it can help him that much, it must be very relaxing for the rest of the people as well. This is where Pilates brought many positive changes in my life. I never thought that this would be my career or the path that I would aim for in my life. It was nothing short of magic for me that I could live a normal life again.” Pain-free living… that’s what Pilates did for me.”

made sports his teacher

She calls herself a sports person who has been introduced to sports at an early age. The biggest lesson for him was that “You are never really a failure. Every failure gives you a new lesson and a new understanding. Even if you fall or you’ve had a tough day or you lose a match, get up and try to make it all over again. Work hard and do the best you can,”

Sports and life are both journeys for him. She says that “as long as I am enjoying the journey, the process, that is what matters. I’m sure we all start a struggle somewhere. We do not get our desired result. But sports has given me a positive learning from every failure. See what I learned from it and try harder next time or try not to make the same mistakes”. She no longer views her life as a failure, thanks to her downfall. He understood this at a very young age that there is nothing like failure. You just learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward.

The Pressure of Being a Celebrity Fitness Trainer

The trainer says that she never takes any kind of pressure. Also, they do not feel any kind of pressure. Because they enjoy this journey. It’s a good thing, but she understands that we all have expectations. Whether you are a celebrity or a fitness trainer, people expect you to look different.

“We don’t even remember when was the last time we enjoyed a Christmas and New Year party. I think humanizing everyone is important. I understand that you look up to celebrities as role models and you expect them to look a certain way. Despite being a fitness expert, I don’t see anything wrong with it.”

“But there should be some leeway for everybody because everybody is going through a lot. Everyone enjoys the holidays and drinks alcohol from time to time. It’s healthy and totally fine. Mental health is also important.”

They feel that the more pressure we try to put on ourselves, like “I can’t eat this even when it’s Christmas because I have to look a certain way,” it does us more harm than good. When celebrities eat chips at parties, they feel better, but people say, “Oh my god, she eats chips.” But let me tell you that this is quite normal.

It is all about maintaining balance in life. “So, once in a month or two, you can indulge in your favorite food.”

What fitness experts say on social media

When it comes to social media, there is a lot of misinformation out there. Purohit noted that there is no regulation and anyone can take to social media. He can post whatever he feels like. She says that it may be right for them and work for them, but it is not necessary that one size fits all. “Everyone can give suggestions or advice on social media as to what they should do. It is dangerous somewhere because they are being declared as verified.

“How do we know if it worked for the person who saw the post?” she asks. So when she posts something she is very conscious about them. Trainer tries her best not to post anything that could hurt or harm anyone. Trainor has 430,000 followers on Instagram. “If I’m discussing an exercise and I think someone with a back injury shouldn’t be doing it (a particular exercise), I always mention that.”

Lastly giving a fitness tip, she says, “Just keep it safe, simple and smart.”
