Patiala Vigilance has summoned Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, a close associate of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and his media advisor, in the case of disproportionate assets. Bharat Inder Chahal has been summoned to the Patiala Range Vigilance SSP office on March 10.

The vigilance team also went to his house but did not find them there. According to the vigilance officer, the summons have also been provided to them on WhatsApp. According to the information, a case was registered against Chahal in the year 2007 under the charges of corruption. At that time there was an Akali-BJP coalition government in Punjab. However, later in 2016, he was also acquitted in this case.

Chahal came into the limelight after the construction of a luxurious marriage palace on Sirhind Road. During Captain Amarinder Singh’s tenure as the Chief Minister, Chahal built a large shopping mall on Central Jail Road. This shopping mall was built after the auction of government land and recently the vigilance has also measured this place.

According to Punjab Vigilance, the value of properties made by Chahal was assessed during the raid. Property documents were checked. Along with this, the records of Chahal’s property were also verified with vigilance. Vigilance suspects that all these properties have been constructed illegally. The vigilance team has now started investigating all these cases.
