BSF recovers consignment of arms dropped by drone

BSF has recovered a consignment of arms and ammunition smuggled by Pakistani drones from BOP Lakha Singh Wala (Jalloke) near the international border in Ferozepur. When the packet was opened, one AK-47 assault rifle, two AK-47 magazines, 40 live rounds (7.62 mm) and Rs 40,000 in cash were recovered.

A farmer was irrigating his field on Friday in Jaloke village. The farmer's field is near the border security force post Lakha Singhwala. It is being told that a Pakistani drone dropped a bag in the field on Thursday night. The farmer informed the village sarpanch about the bag lying in the field. Seeing the weapon in the bag, the sarpanch informed the BSF.

When BSF opened the bag, AK-47, two magazines, 40 cartridges and Indian currency worth Rs 40,000 were recovered from it. A consignment of arms has been seized due to increased security at the border. It may be mentioned that BSF has increased vigilance on the border in view of Republic Day.
