Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that on 16.02.2023, the Bathinda Range Vigilance Team had registered a case of corruption after the personal assistant of Bathinda Rural MLA was caught red-handed by taking a bribe of four lakh rupees. During the investigation, the said MLA was also arrested in this case on 20-02-2023 because his PA had collected this bribe in the name of the MLA.
Giving more information about this matter, he said that during the year 2022-23, the government had issued a grant of 25 lakh rupees to village Ghuda, district Bathinda under the 15th Finance Commission, which was yet to be given to the panchayat, but the said private P.A. Rashim Garg demanded a bribe of five lakh rupees from the sarpanch of village Ghuda. But the Vigilance arrested him red-handed on 16.02.2023 for taking a bribe of 4 lakhs in the eves of issuing the said grant. The said sarpanch had already given the 50,000 rupees demanded by him.
The spokesperson said that during the investigation of this matter, it has come to light that the said bribe was collected by the alleged accused Rashim Garg on the instructions of MLA Amit Ratan. Apart from this, he took a bribe of Rs 2,50,000 from Gurdas Singh of village Ghuda in exchange for giving him the number of his village.
Based on the revelations during the investigation, the vigilance added another section 120-B of IPC in the said case and also named MLA Amit Ratan in the present case and arrested him on 22-02-2023 from Shambhu. was gone Both the accused are in judicial custody and in jail and further investigation is on.
