Kumar went to the Raj Bhavan with Janata Dal (U) senior minister Bijendra Yadav. Kumar resigned after presiding over a meeting of party MLAs at his official residence.

While meeting the Governor at the Raj Bhavan, Nitish told him, “We have decided to sever ties with the Mahagathjod in the state.” The development comes amid talk that Nitish will rejoin the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

With which the 'grand alliance' rule will end in the state. Sources said that with the support of Bharatiya Janata Party, there is a possibility of forming a new government by the evening.
