Fulfilling the long-standing demand of the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir, the Anand Marriage Act has been implemented here. Now marriage registration in the Sikh community will be under this law.

After the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, the central law came into force in Jammu and Kashmir. After this, the Sikh community was demanding that the Anand Marriage Act should be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir as well.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has approved the implementation of Jammu Kashmir Anand Marriage Registration Rules 2023.

In this regard, the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department of the state government has also issued an order. The Tehsildar concerned will be the registrar for issuing certificates under the Anand Marriage Act.
