Bureau Report: Hardeep Singh Nijhar has been shot dead in Canada. The Government of India had placed a reward of 10 lakhs on Nijhar’s head. According to preliminary information, 2 unidentified people shot near the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Nijhar was also the president of this Gurdwara.
Last night Nijhar was in his car in the parking lot outside the Gurdwara. Meanwhile, 2 youths came on a motorcycle and started firing in the parking lot. Hardeep Singh Nijhar did not get time to get out of the car and he died. According to sources, Canadian police have arrested 2 Punjabis and a Chinese youth in this case. However, this has not been confirmed.
Hardeep Singh Nijhar is considered close to Sikhs for Justice chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. NIA had recently released a list of 40 people. Nijhar’s name was also in it. He played an important role in the referendum held in Brampton city. NIA has filed a charge sheet against him, he has also been declared a fugitive.
In September 2020, the Union Home Ministry announced a reward of 10 lakhs on the head of Hardeep Singh Nijhar. His property in Bhar Singh Pura of Jalandhar was attached. Nijhar was accused of killing a priest of this village. Hardeep Singh Nijhar was accused of having attacked the intelligence headquarters in Mohali, Arshdeep Dalla was his accomplice.
