Rain broke records in Amritsar

Amritsar has recorded 129.5 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, breaking the record of 92.6 mm rainfall on June 30, 1970. On average, Amritsar receives 38.9MM of rainfall per day in the month of June and 89.9MM of rainfall for the whole month. Not only this, there was also a hail storm in Amritsar.

Damage to the department due to broken power lines

Due to strong winds in many parts of Punjab, the electricity department has also suffered a lot. Apart from Ludhiana district, strong winds have caused heavy damage in the border areas of Jandiala Guru, Ajnala Road and Amritsar. Due to broken power lines, there is no light in many areas since last day.

Due to rain, the average temperature of Punjab has been recorded at 2.9 degrees and 3.6 degrees below normal. Compared to the previous day, the minimum temperature has decreased by 6.5 degrees in Ludhiana, 5.3 degrees in Amritsar, 3.4 degrees in Muktsar, 3.8 degrees in Bathinda and 5.4 degrees in Faridkot.

The Meteorological Department in Punjab has predicted rain till June 18. This weather will remain in entire Punjab. In fact, due to Biparjoy Cyclone on one side and Western Disturbance on the other, pressure is being put on Punjab. Due to which there is a possibility of rain and cloudy weather till June 18. Meanwhile, the temperature of Punjab will also decrease. The temperature in most cities is expected to be around 36 degrees on Thursday.
