Strictness on Anganwadi worker's joining a political party

Punjab News: Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur has instructed District Program Officer Sri Muktsar Sahib to take serious notice of the joining of a political party by an Anganwadi worker in District Sri Muktsar Sahib of Punjab.

Giving more information, Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the case of Anganwadi worker Hargobind Kaur, posted at District Sri Muktsar Sahib, joining a political party has come to his attention. He said that according to the rules of the government, the joining of any political party by a person who receives salary/emoluments from the government treasury is a violation of the government rules.

The Minister said that the District Program Officer Mr. Muktsar Sahib has been instructed to take appropriate action on joining the political party by Aganwadi worker Hargobind Kaur of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the duty and responsibility of the Anganwadi worker is to convey the benefits of the schemes being run by the department for the welfare of women and children to the common people under the Anganwadi Services Scheme. He also said that Anganwadi workers and helpers must perform their duty to pay the essential works of Anganwadi Centers during the scheduled hours. In this way, the benefit of the services provided by the department will not be able to reach the common people properly due to the association of the Anganwadi worker with any political party.
