Bureau report : In Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana, the Meteorological Department has issued a major rain alert for the next few hours and the entire week. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be heavy rain in Mohali, Patiala and Chandigarh for the next 4 to 5 hours. These areas are the most affected areas from rain. Apart from this a whole day RED ALERT has been issued in Malwa. There are 9 districts for which the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert. Among them, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Mallorkotla, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ropar, Patiala and Mohali have full day rain alert.
The Ghaggar river in Patiala is already above the danger mark and the DC has sought the help of the army. While in Chandigarh the conditions are very bad due to continuous rain. 96MM of rain has fallen within 24 hours. Due to this, the water level of Sukhna Lake has risen above the danger mark due to which the flood gate was opened and if the situation remains the same, the flood gate will remain open. In view of the weather department’s alert, the municipal corporation has divided the city into 18 zones, teams have been formed for each zone. These teams will be posted in their area 24 hours a day. On the other hand, the leaves of all the employees have been cancelled. All emergency control rooms will be open 24 hours. After Mohali, NDRF teams have been called in Chandigarh.

Relief in these districts
According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, there is no rain in West Malwa on Monday, apart from this, there was relief from rain in the districts of Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran and the border areas of Malwa under Majha on Monday.
Rain again in Majha from Thursday
In Majha, Doaba, West Malwa, there will be sunshine on Monday and Tuesday, while there are chances of sunshine on Wednesday too, there may be changes in between, but chances of rain are less. East Malwa will get relief from rain till Thursday but rain again from Friday.
