The Special Cell of the Amritsar Rural Police has arrested a person with 4 kg of heroin, drug money worth Rs 2 lakh and a pistol. The accused was on foot to supply the drug, where the police intercepted him.

The Special Cell of the Amritsar Rural Police received a tip-off that Manjit Singh alias Kalu, a resident of village Dhanoana clan, was in the business of selling heroin. He is still going for supplies today, after which the police took immediate action and set up a roadblock near the diversion drain, where the accused Manjit Singh was walking from village Dhanoa Kalan to village Mor.

The police signaled him to stop and 4 kg of heroin was recovered from him at the spot. The market price of heroin is around 28 crore rupees. Apart from this, drug money worth Rs 2 lakh, a 32 bore pistol, an Airtel dongle and a mobile phone have been recovered from the accused.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused in Gharun police station. The accused will be produced before the court and remand will be obtained after which his backward and forward relations will be examined. It will also be investigated from where the accused procured such quantity of heroin and to whom he supplied it. Currently, the accused is in the custody of the police and the investigation is on.
