Beginning of establishment of Jan Mal Lok Adalat in Punjab

Jan Maal Lok Adalat: Punjab Revenue Minister Bram Shankar Jimpa launched the first Jan Mal Lok Adalat from Jalandhar for on-the-spot redressal of people’s grievances related to the revenue department, in which more than 1500 people participated. During this Jan Mal Lok Adalat, 816 transfer cases were decided on the spot and 90 complaints were received, for which the Revenue Minister gave necessary guidelines to the concerned officials for their quick disposal.

Talking to reporters, Finance Minister Jimpa said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken new initiatives to provide smooth and timely civic services to the people. He said that ‘Sarkar Aaphe Dwar’ initiative reflects the priorities of the government, under which the government is reaching out to the people at all levels. The Chief Minister is holding cabinet meetings in several districts while the field officers at the district level are making visits to remote areas to convey the benefits of welfare programs of the state government to the people.

On this occasion, Lok Sabha Member Sushil Kumar Rinku, MLA Sheetal Angural, MLA Raman Arora, Special Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, Deputy Commissioner Special Sarangal and District Planning Board Chairman Amritpal Singh were present.

Gimpa said that on the guidelines of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, a Jan Mal Lok Adalat has been started in the state, in which the complaints of people related to the revenue department are being settled on the spot. He said that sub division war counters have been set up under this Jan Mal Lok Adalat today, where the applicants approached for settlement of their pending applications.

He said that similarly, under another exclusive initiative, a WhatsApp helpline has also been started in the state, under which people can send their complaints related to the revenue department on the helpline number. These complaints are resolved in a timely manner. He said that about 1400 complaints have been received through this WhatsApp helpline, out of which more than 500 complaints have been resolved while the remaining complaints are under process.

Giving more information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Special Sarangal said that in today’s Jan Mal Lok Adalat, 816 transfer cases have been decided by the revenue officials, including disputes, non-dispute, inheritance, transfer related transfers, while a total of 90 new cases have been decided. Complaints have been received and instructions have been given to the concerned authorities for their immediate disposal.

Earlier, the Revenue Minister presided over a review meeting with the officials of the Revenue Department and directed the officials/employees to ensure speedy disposal of all types of cases, especially Taksim and Transfer cases. He said that the revenue department is directly connected with the people, therefore special attention is being given by the state government to make the department more responsive and streamlined in relation to the complaints of the people.
