Balwant Singh Rajoana started hunger strike in Central Jail Patiala

Balwant Singh Rajoana, who is under sentence of hanging in the Central Jail Patiala, has started a hunger strike on Tuesday. Like every day, when the prison staff reached him with food on Tuesday morning, he refused to eat.

Confirming that Balwant Singh Rajoana went on hunger strike, the officials said that no one is being allowed to visit the jail except his sister. Even today his sisters reached the jail to meet him and they said that their brother has started a hunger strike today. Balwant Singh had demanded that his death sentence be commuted to life imprisonment but expressed anger at the lack of response from the government.
