Dhruv Kapila’s historical victory in Thomas Cup: Indian athlete Akshdeep Singh won the gold medal in the 20 km walking event at the Asian Race Walking Championships at Nomi (Japan). Akshdeep Singh clocked 1:20:57 to achieve this feat.

Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hare congratulated athlete Akshdeep Singh on this achievement. Akshdeep Singh, congratulating his parents and coaches, attributed this achievement to his hard work and coaching.

He said that this was Akshdeep Singh’s first international competition, and with this achievement, he will be encouraged for big tournaments like Asian Games, World Championship and Olympic Games. The Sports Minister wished Akshdeep Singh for a bright future.

Akshdeep Singh, a resident of Kahnake (Barnala), recently qualified for the Paris Olympic Games-2024 by setting a new national record in the 20 km walk at the National Open Walking Championship at Ranchi. On behalf of the Chief Minister, the Sports Minister had given five lakh rupees to Akshdeep Singh for the preparation of the Olympics.
