Guwahati. A massive fire broke out in the Chowk market of Jorhat in Assam late on Thursday night. Due to which there was chaos in the area. The fire broke out in a cloth shop near the main gate of the market. The fire has engulfed many shops. Several fire tenders have reached the spot. Efforts are being made to extinguish the fire.

Jorhat SP ML Meena said, “The figure of loss cannot be said yet, but being a commercial area, more than 100 shops have been damaged. Fire engines have reached the area. Now the situation is under control. We suspect that the fire broke out due to short circuit.”

According to the information, the fire started around 11:00 am. The local people tried to extinguish the fire but the fire took a more formidable form. After which the police and fire department were informed about it. Firefighters are trying tirelessly to extinguish the fire. However, there is no information about any injuries or casualties so far.

At the same time, the reason for the fire has not been clarified yet. It is believed that the fire broke out due to short circuit. However, the fire department has not yet officially confirmed this.
