ASI arrested in Bribe Case: Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Harjinder Singh posted at Sadar Police Station, Zira of Ferozepur District for accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from Harpreet Singh, a resident of Mahianwala village.

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the accused ASI was demanding a bribe for not taking action on the complaint lodged against Harpreet Singh by Gurmail Kaur, a resident of the same village. Complainant Harpreet Singh also claimed that ASI Harjinder Singh had taken Rs 3,000 from him on August 4 and was now demanding Rs 20,000 more as bribe.

The spokesman said that after the preliminary investigation of the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and arrested the accused ASI in the presence of government witnesses, taking a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant.

The spokesperson said that in this regard, an FIR has been lodged against ASI Harjinder Singh at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Ferozepur Range under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act. No. 20 dated 05-08-2023 has been recorded.
