abohar : The number of drug overdose deaths is continuously increasing in Punjab. People’s houses are being destroyed due to drugs. The latest case of this has come to light from Abohar where a woman has died due to drug overdose. Thana City Police has kept the dead body of the woman in the mortuary of the government hospital and started the investigation. The deceased has been identified as Pooja alias Hemalta, wife of Gurpreet Singh, resident of Nirankari Bhavan Road, Dharamshala.

According to information, last night the said woman entered a house near Shiv Mandir in street number 6 and asked to drink water. It seemed that the woman had also taken some drug before. Meanwhile, the said woman went inside the house and sat down and started injecting. The family members tried to stop the said woman but they failed As soon as the injection was given, the said woman lay there and died after some time. After this, the family members informed the police and members of Nar Seva Narayan Seva Samiti.

Members of Nar Seva Samiti Bittu Narula and Sonu Grover reached the spot and SI Bahadur Singh of Thana City also reached the spot along with the police force and started the investigation. A syringe and a mobile phone were found from the woman. The police have kept the body of the dead woman in the mortuary of the government hospital and the investigation is on. The police say that action will be taken on the statements of the woman’s husband.
