Alert in 18 districts of Punjab: Warning of heavy rain, many villages evacuated

There is a possibility of heavy rain in Punjab today. An orange alert has been issued for East Malwa, while a yellow alert has been issued for Doab, under which heavy rain will occur in the next few hours. Along with this, the water of rivers and canals in the state is flowing above the danger mark. Because of this, 15 to 20 villages around the Sutlej river have been evacuated.

A holiday has been announced in the schools of 2 cities of Jalandhar. Around 200 acres of crops have been submerged in water due to the breach of the canal wall in the area around Bandala in Jandiala Guru. According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, Sangrur, Dhuri, Malerkotla, Samana, Patiala, Nabha, Rajpura, Samrala, Rupnagar, Balachore, Ludhiana West, Phillaur, Phagwara, Nawanshahr, Anandpur Sahib, Garhshankar, Nangal, Hoshiarpur along with rain. Winds are likely.

Rain may also occur in Jalandhar, Dhuri, Malerkotla, Samana, Nabha, Ludhiana East, Phillaur, Phagwara, Jalandhar-1, Nawanshahr, Garhshankar, Hoshiarpur. The Meteorological Department has not issued any alert for today in Majha and West Malwa.

Majha, Doaba and West Malwa are likely to witness sunny spells today, Tuesday and Wednesday. In between, it will be cloudy, but there is less chance of rain, due to which the temperature will rise during the day. The temperature which was running close to 30 degrees now, may cross 36 degrees in the next 2 days, due to which there will be an increase in humidity.
