The district administration has become alert as soon as bird flu was confirmed in the old guest house (ward number-19) located at jail turn. Bird flu has been confirmed in the chickens of Central Minister Arjun Munda’s official residence located at Nirmal Mahato Chowk. After this, on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Sinha, seven rapid response teams have been formed under the action plan. Each team consists of four members including the Veterinary Officer.

At the same time, a ban has been imposed on the purchase, sale and transportation of chicken and eggs within one kilometer radius of Jail Mod (infected area). Here, the Rapid Response Team has been ordered to kill the remaining chickens of ward number-19 and make them free of infection. Animal Husbandry Department will also give compensation for the killed chickens. A survey will be done before killing the chickens. Compensation will be given at the rate of Rs.70 per chick and Rs.90 per hen.

The department will also give compensation for the destroyed eggs. It has been asked to conduct a survey of poultry farming in one kilometer radius of the infected area and to monitor closely by marking a surveillance zone in a radius of 10 kilometers. However, at present, the risk of infection of this virus to the common people is less. If humans are in contact with infected birds, then the risk of infection increases.
