The Vikram lander on the moon went into sleep mode today on September 4 at 8 am. ISRO has given this information. Vikram is expected to resume his work on September 22.

Vikram’s second landing on the moon
The Chandrayaan-3 mission’s Vikram lander then landed on the lunar surface. ISRO said on Monday that the lander was lifted 40 cm high and landed safely at a distance of 30 to 40 cm. It was called the Hope experiment i.e. the jump test.

Before lifting the lander, its ramp, payload ChaSTE and ILSA were folded, ISRO said. After another successful landing, all instruments were reset as before. The experiment was conducted on September 3. Its purpose is to ensure future operations and give new hope for sample returns.

The Pragyan rover completes its work, goes into sleep mode
Earlier on September 2, ISRO had said that the Pragyan rover has completed its mission. It is now safely parked and set to sleep mode. Both payload APXS and LIBS onboard are now disabled. Data from these payloads are transmitted to Earth via the lander.

The battery is also fully charged. The rover is positioned in such a way that sunlight will fall on the solar panels when the next sunrise on the moon occurs on September 22, 2023. Its receiver is also kept on. It is expected to resume operations from September 22.

Chandrayaan-3 mission is only for 14 days. This is because the moon has 14 days of night and 14 days of light. The rover-lander can generate electricity in sunlight, but the power generation process will stop at night. Without power generation, the electronics will not be able to withstand the extreme cold and will malfunction.
