Tomato prices increased due to heat and rain
Some attributed the rise in vegetable prices to the heat wave as well as heavy rains in major tomato-growing regions, which affected supplies. Tomatoes also have a short shelf life, which is believed to affect their prices. The report said that tomato is currently selling at Rs 100-130 per kg in Chennai.
