In another false encounter, 3 policemen have been found guilty after 31 years. Now the accused will be sentenced on September 14.

In fact, Harjit Singh of village Buttar near Mehta was picked up by the police from Thatthian bus stand on April 29, 1992 and kept in illegal custody and killed in a fake encounter with two other youths Jaspinder Singh Jassa and Lakhwinder Singh Lakha. Harjit Singh’s father Kashmir Singh filed a case in the Punjab Haryana High Court in this matter. In which an investigation was conducted from the Sessions Judge Chandigarh after the Warrant Officer was appointed. After this, the case was handed over to the CBI in 1997. In 2000, the CBI filed a charge sheet against 9 police officers in the court. But this case was stayed for many years and after 31 years now the verdict has been pronounced.

In this case, the rest of the accused died during the trial. Apart from this, 27 of the 58 witnesses in the case had died.
